Power of Imagination part 1.

Many people feel that they have no imagination, but this is not the case. It may be that their visual imagination is not strong enough or has not been developed correctly. Imagination is the abilty to visualize using all our five senses and there in lies the key to the power of imagination.

When we allow our thoughts to go all over the map, the mental images that arise in our imagination will eventually attract the circumstance that we have been imagining, into our lives. We use the power of imagination all the time but we can relate to it especially when we worry or are afraid. If we control and visualize only that which is desired, we can alter the course of our lives.

Picture this- you just received a phone call telling you that a member of your family may have been in an accident. What immediately comes to mind? You hear the ambulance arriving at the scene of the accident; you picture the paramedics putting her on the strecher. You may sense tightness in your throat, or feel your heart beating faster. You may feel an energy drain, and tears smarting at your eyes.

What has just taken place? The power of your imagination created that scenario in your mind, and your emotions were the result of those powerful images. They were powerful because most of your senses were involved. However we often use our imagination to visualize depressing and unhappy situations, or we look at our circumstances through the eyes of lack, focusing only on what we don’t want or have.

What we need to do is to use the very same tools to imagine and create those powerful emotions to create what we want. The brain doesn’t know the difference between what is real or fantasy. So what ever you focus on is what you will create and receive.

Here are some amazing stories of people who used the power of imagination to achieve what they wanted to accomplish in their lives. Air Force Colonel George Hall was a POW in a North Vietnames prison camp for seven years. Every day George Hall played a full game of golf using his imagination. The very next week after his release from the POW camp he entered the Greater New Orleans Open and shot a 76!! How did he do that when he had not played golf for seven years except in his imagination?

The Russians implemented this knowledge that the power of imagination is more powerful that just physical practice, to train their athletes for the 1980 Olympics.

The athletes were split into four groups A -D

Group A used physical practice 100% of the time

Group B used physical practice 75% of the time and visualization 25% of the time

Group C used physical practice 50% of the time and visualization 50% of the time

Group D used physical practice 25% of the time and visualization 75% of the time

The scores were tallied after the Moscow Olympics and the Lake Placid Olympics and they found that Group D had won the most medals.

The key to using your imagination to change your reality is to act as if the scene that you are imagining is real, that it is happening right now, and has already been accomplished. That is how you bring what you desire (which is in the future) into the present moment.

There are no limits in your dreams and in your imagination. You used this muscle of imagination without any problems when you were children. You could imagine that you could fly like superman, be a princess in a far away land, and day dream about all the magical feats that you were able to perform. In this realm of thought you were invincible and powerful and no one could harm you. There were no limits to what you could or could not do through the power of your mind and imagination.

Somewhere along the way we lost this ability to dream, and failed to remember that this physical body is the part of us that has limitations, and not the “I” that inhabits the body. We communicate with the universe through the language of imagination. Just like exercising keep the muscles in our body in good shape, so too our imagination can be developed through the consistent use of our imagination if it is to grow and assist us.
